Man found submerged in Menasha Lake may have been there five days police say

Police in Menasha have identified the man found submerged in a vehicle in Little Lake Butte des Morts Monday, December 16, 2024, as 63-year-old Kurt Stadtmueller of Appleton.

His vehicle was discovered under the ice at the Ninth Street boat landing on Monday and it’s believed he may have been there since as early as last Wednesday, as that was the time police say a missing persons report was filed for Stadtmueller.

Investigators say it doesn’t appear there was any evidence of trauma to the man and they’re still looking into the cause of his death.
