Man in country illegal that stabbed woman, sentenced in Fond du Lac County Court

The man who stabbed a woman he had a relationship with back in March of 2024 was sentenced Tuesday, March 18, 2025 in Fond du Lac County Circuit Court.

Fermin Teodoro Lopez-Mendoza, who is in the country illegally, stabbed his wife in the stomach six times on March 22 of 2024 at a Highway K address just southeast of the City of Fond du Lac.
Mendoza fled the scene before authorities arrived, but they captured him in Ozaukee County the next day.

Tuesday, Fond du Lac County District Attorney Eric Toney announced that Mendoza was sentenced for domestic violence related attempted homicide with a dangerous weapon. He was sentenced to 20 years of initial prison confinement and 10 years of extended supervision. Mendoza is subject to an ICE detainer and is expected to be deported at the conclusion of his sentence.
