Man suffering mental health episode draws large police presence in Fond du Lac

A large police presence was seen in the far northwest area of Fond du Lac Tuesday night, March 11, 2025, as law enforcement from multiple agencies responded to a man suffering a mental health episode.

Just after 9 PM, a man in the 500 block of Vermont Street called the Fond du Lac County Communications Center making self harm threats. When police arrived on scene, the man was out on the street and wouldn’t listen to officer’s commands.

After the area was blocked off by responding officers from the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office and Wisconsin State Patrol, other officers were again able to make contact with the man and he was taken into custody about 30 minutes after the initial call was made.

No information has been released by the police department, but based on scanner traffic, no injuries to law enforcement or the subject were reported.
