Man who stabbed wife New Years Eve in Green Bay captured after high speed pursuit in Winnebago County

Around 11:15 PM Tuesday, December 31, 2024, Green Bay Police and Wisconsin State Patrol Troopers were called to a residence in the 1600 block of Harold Street in Green Bay for a report of a man that had stabbed his wife.

When officers arrived on scene, the man had already fled and the woman was found with a stab wound in her abdomen. She was rushed to a local hospital for treatment while officers pieced together where the man may be headed.

Law enforcement pinged his phone and found he was likely traveling south on I-41 in an attempt tp make it to Chicago or Indiana. Units in Winnebago and Fond du Lac County were told to be on the lookout for the vehicle.

At around 12:15 AM, a trooper spotted the vehicle in Winnebago County headed south on 41 approaching Highway 26. When the trooper activated his emergency lights to pull the driver over, the driver exited to Highway 26, then returning to I-41 northbound.

Now in a pursuit, the driver was going over 100 mph. Officers up ahead successfully deployed a tire deflation device which punctured a rear wheel of the vehicle.

The driver continued, reaching speeds of 120 mph before losing control and entering the ditch north of Winchester Road.

The driver attempted to run on foot but was captured a short time later.

Officers advised the man had dried blood on his hands and clothes. Green Bay officers came to return the man to their city where he remains in custody.
