Marian University Reveals New Construction Management Major
Daniel Enz, Program Director and Associate Professor for Construction Management at Marian, joined Shawn Kiser on KFIZ Today to talk about the new Construction Management Major.
Students at Marian University of Wisconsin will have more options to build their career – with a new major in Construction Management. This new major offers higher earning potential, opportunities for advancement and a wealth of career opportunities, from project management and site supervision to estimating and construction consulting. Students can apply now – classes begin August 28th.
“Marian University is the perfect place for this program, says Daniel Enz, Program Director and Associate Professor for Construction Management at Marian. “These students have a good work ethic, plus character – with the skills we instill, they will be a great addition to the industry.”
The new program is market-driven. “In the AGC of America’s 2022 Construction Workforce Survey, 81% of contracting firms indicated they are having trouble filling Project Managers/ Supervisors salaried positions,” said Jeff Roach, Director of Marketing & Industry Outreach, AGC Wisconsin. “With this in mind, we look forward to Marian University’s new Construction Management Program benefiting the construction industry’s workforce needs in Wisconsin by preparing students for an outstanding career in Construction Management.”
“Marian University’s Construction Management program is a benefit to students, the construction industry and the community,” said Pat Herzog, Senior Advisor, Michels. “Our industry is vast, dynamic and rapidly changing. Building a foundation in leadership and project
management through this program will prepare students for many satisfying positions in the construction industry, including at Michels.”
Enz introduced a Minor in Construction Management earlier this year to allow students to sample the new program. The classes attracted both men and women and the response has been enthusiastic. Casey Bartelt, a student-athlete from Fond du Lac, who plays Baseball at Marian, looks forward to the new major. “The Construction Management major opens many doors in the construction field,” said Bartelt, who will be a sophomore this fall. “With my degree, I plan to work with a company constructing large commercial buildings. Eventually, I would like to be overseeing job sites or estimating.”
Connie Coon, Vice President of Human Resources for CD Smith Construction says, “It’s an exciting time to be in construction! We are grateful to Marian University for investing in a quality program that will help prepare students locally for many rewarding careers in the construction industry.”
