McDermott Park Master Plan Approved

The Fond du Lac City Council approved a master plan for McDermott Park this week. Public Works Director Jordan Skiff told the Council that approval of the plan did not commit the Council or future Councils to doing everything suggested in the plan. He says the plan has been on the City’s website for several weeks and no concerns were expressed about it. He says City staff share the excitement of the Friends of McDermott Park in seeing the plan endorsed by the Council. Skiff had previously shared his own concerns about how some planned landscaping might infringe on part of the southern baseball diamond, but said Parks and Recreation Department officials weren’t concerned about use of the field. He says they will eliminate that south ball field in the future if necessary. Council members expressed no concerns about the plan before they approved it.
