Mega Millions Hits $1 Billion Jackpot

The Mega Millions jackpot is stacking up to $1
billion for tonight’s drawing. The billion-dollar prize is the
second-largest lottery prize in US
history. And although the jackpot keeps going up – the odds of winning are at a
measly one in 302.5 million. Nobody has won the jackpot since late July, when a
group in California
won $543 million. The billion dollar prize refers to an annuity option, while
most winners opt for cash – which would be $565 million. Lottery officials say
if there isn’t a winner, the prize for Tuesday’s drawing would jump up to $1.6
billion, which would tie the largest US lottery prize ever.
