Milwaukee man convicted for Fond du Lac County fentanyl overdose death

Friday, August 30, 2024, Fond du Lac County District Attorney Eric Toney announced that 23-year-old Derrise Townsend Jr. pled no contest and was convicted of First Degree Reckless Homicide for a fentanyl overdose death that occurred on May 8, 2020 in western Fond du Lac, County.

According to the criminal complaint, deputies and emergency medical personnel were dispatched to a home in the town of Metomen after the victim’s parents reported their 24-year-old son not breathing or conscious and was cold and stiff. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Bond was revoked for Townsend, and sentencing has been set for Monday December 2.
