Motorcycle crash seriously injures driver – med flighted to trauma center

A 56-year-old Winneconne man was seriously injured Wednesday, June 5, 2024, after crashing the motorcycle he was driving on I-41 near Townline Road.
According to the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office, the driver was southbound on I-41 and lost control of the motorcycle, entered the median gravel shoulder, struck the cable barrier, fell onto its side, and the driver and motorcycle slid across both lanes of southbound I-41, coming to rest in the west ditch of the highway.
Emergency personnel on scene confirmed that the driver was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
North Fond du Lac Ambulance transported the driver to the Fond du Lac County Airport where they met ThedaStar Medical Helicopter which transported the man to a regional Trauma Center with serious injuries.
Failure to maintain control and speed appears to be the factors in the crash, which remains under investigation by the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office. The driver was cited for reckless driving.
