Motorcyclist seriously injured after striking deer
The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a serious-injury motorcycle crash which occurred shortly before 8 a.m. on Sunday near Columbus.
Investigation into the crash showed a man was eastbound on State Highway 16/60, about a mile and a half east of the city of Columbus, when he struck a deer in the roadway. The 37-year-old Cedarburg man was ejected from the motorcycle during the crash, sustaining serious injuries.
He was flown from the scene by UW Med Flight to UW Hospital in Madison.
The sheriff’s office says the man was not wearing a helmet, which was a factor in the significance of his injuries.
The highway was closed for about two hours while the scene was investigated.
