Mt. Calvary and St. Cloud Fire Departments Save Barn From Grass Fire

The Mt Calvary and St Cloud Fire Departments saved a barn Friday, April 14, 2023, that was being threatened by a vegetation fire.

Around 2:30 PM Friday afternoon, both departments were dispatched to the corner of County Highway T and Hillview Road for an out of control grass fire.

Upon arrival, fire department members said the fire was about 20 feet from a barn on the property.

Minutes later the call was upgraded to a structure fire call and more departments were called to assist.

While mutual aid was on their way, St Cloud fire said they could cancel. It’s unknown if the fire actually reached the barn or if the call for mutual aid was done as a precaution.

The Wisconsin DNR continues to have Fond du Lac County listed under their fire rating as very high with counties to the south and west listed as extreme.

Outdoor burning is not advised per the department.

The area will receive a break from the warm, dry conditions this weekend as a cold front brings temperatures back closer to normal.
