Multiple Fire Departments Respond For Church Fire
Multiple fire departments responded to a church on fire near Lomira Wednesday night, January 18, 2023.
Just before 10 PM, the Lomira, Knowles and Theresa Fire Departments were paged for the report of the steeple of the St Paul Lutheran Church on fire at N9910 State Highway 175, south of Lomira.
When responding units arrived, they found the very top of the steeple on fire.
Fire fighters extended a ladder from a ladder truck all the way to the flames and got water on the fire before it spread to other parts of the church.
Because of the difficulty in reaching the flames, and the potential for the fire to quickly spread, multiple other departments from Dodge, Fond du Lac and Washington County were called to assist.
While no official cause has been determined, it would appear the fire was electrical in nature as the cross at the top of the steeple had a light on it.
