Multiple people killed on state roads Saturday

Saturday, December 16, 2023 was a deadly day on Wisconsin Roads.
A wrong way driver in Waupaca County killed three people in a vehicle they hit head on Saturday night. Police say a pickup truck was traveling westbound in the eastbound lane on Highway 10 in the Town of Weyauwega shortly after 9 PM when it collided head-on with an eastbound SUV. There were four people in the SUV and officials say three of them were pronounced dead at the scene. The fourth person and the driver of the pick-up truck were taken to the hospital in critical condition with life-threatening injuries. Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash.
Just after 6 PM Saturday evening, the Wisconsin state patrol received a call about a crash between a semi and a car on I-90 near Portage in Columbia County. The car was traveling westbound on I-90 and struck the rear of a semi that was parked on the shoulder. The driver of the car was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Columbia County medical examiner. The driver of the semi was uninjured. Troopers with the State Patrol continue to investigate that crash.
One person was killed Saturday morning in what police in Madison are saying is a hit and run crash. About 4:30 Saturday morning, police were called about a person that was struck by a vehicle in the 1700 block of Packers Avenue. The man was found deceased at the scene and no one is in custody for the crash but police are investigating.
