New Coaches Wurtz and Domask Look To Improve Respective Programs

Recently, two Flyway Conference Boys Basketball programs named new head coaches that bring experience and a winning pedigree. Dylan Wurtz the son of Lucky Wurtz was hired by Laconia after previously coaching at Menasha High School Dan Demask was hired by Lomira to be their next head coach. Domask led Waupun to the 2016 WIAA Division 3 Boys State Basketball Championship and his son Marcus just finished up a successful run in the NCAA Tournament for the Illinois Fighting Illini.
At Laconia, Wurtz inherits a talented junior class looking to take that next step. Wurtz says the program has history of success and he is trying to bring that back. Wurtz recently visited with KFIZ Sports Director Chuck Freimund to talk about his new opportunity.
Coach Domask also walks into a good situation with his team in Lomira with the team that finished 2nd in the Flyway Conference this year under interim Coach Tim Zedler. Returning next year will be Jacob Broeske the 6’9″ Power Forward who will only be a Junior next season coming off averaging 14 points a game and earning honorable mention All Conference as a Sophomore. Coach Domask was impressed with the support the school and community are making in athletics.
