No Mow May Allowed In Fond du Lac… With Registration

The Fond du Lac City Council has approved a No or Low Mow May pilot program for 2023.

The initiative behind the program is to increase the habitat for bees and other pollinators.

Through the program, City residents will be allowed to let their lawn grow in the month of May without being in violation of the City Ordinance which limits the height of grass to six inches.

The purpose behind no mow May is to provide bees and other pollinators the resources they need to eat in the early spring when blooming flowers aren’t
as readily available for them, especially in urban and suburban landscapes.

By allowing lawns to grow longer, and letting flowers bloom, your lawn can provide nectar and pollen to help bees thrive.

Registration for this pilot program is voluntary and not required. Interested homeowners can find more information on the city’s website at www.fdl.wi.gov.

A printable sign can also be downloaded to display, so neighbors not aware of what no mow May is won’t think you just became a lazy deadbeat homeowner.
