Northern lights dazzle night sky Sunday night

A solar flare a few days ago spewed gasses from the sun Earthward and they combined with Earth’s atmosphere Sunday night, August 11, 2024 to create auroras, or northern lights, in the northern sky visible in Fond du Lac County.

It should be noted that they were not this vibrant to the naked eye. These photos are 6-10 second exposures on a professional camera mounted on a tripod, so the lights are brighter than how they looked.
