Aaron A. Zulauf

Aaron A. Zulauf, 84, of Fond du Lac died peacefully on December 7, 2024 with family by his side after a long battle with cancer. He was born on January 3, 1940 to Alexander and Katherina (Steinbrecher) Zulauf in Fond du Lac. He graduated from Goodrich High School in 1958 and enlisted in the Navy where he served as a Radioman stationed in England and Northern Ireland. Aaron worked in sales at A to Z Vending Company until his retirement as a Vice President in 2000.

On June 11, 1977 Aaron married Darlene Lepianka at Hope Lutheran Church in Fond du Lac. He and Darlene remained devoted members of Hope for decades where Aaron served as an Elder, sang in the choir, attended Bible study, and participated in volunteer opportunities.

In his free time, Aaron loved to golf, attend local sporting events, and collect kitchen gadgets. He enjoyed fishing and leisurely boat rides on Lake Winnebago and had a green thumb; any plant in his care would thrive. Aaron and Darlene were fierce supporters of music in their community, and Aaron also had an appreciation for a good painting and family pictures, proudly displaying many in his home.

Aaron followed in the family footsteps by being a scholar of the Zulauf Pristine Household Cleanliness Program. He also excelled in household maintenance and was known to fix anything to perfection. Aaron’s family and friends appreciated his candor, jaw-dropping humor, unwavering support, good advice, and well-stocked candy jar.

Aaron will be missed by his daughter, Alexandra Zulauf, of Madison; and by many beloved nieces and nephews, including, locally, Pam Warren, Mike (Sigrid) Nanna, and Chris (Matt) Clementi. He was preceded in death by his wife, Darlene; his parents; his brothers Leo, Don, and Carl Zulauf; and sisters Bertha Bostwick, Mabel Elkins, Clare Stoddart, Marion Lindgren, Rosemary Warren, and Judy Janssen. Aaron reminds us, “We had a good run; think of the good memories.”

The Zulauf family invites friends and relatives to a time of visitation on December 17 at Hope Lutheran Church, 260 Vincent Street, Fond du Lac,

from 9 AM until 11 AM. A funeral service will follow visitation at 11 AM. Aaron’s family extends gratitude to the Fond du Lac Cancer Center who took great care of him for many years and SSM Hospice. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to United Way of Fond du Lac or your local food pantry.
