Alan L. Layman

Alan L. Layman, 83, formerly of Campbellsport passed away peacefully and went home to his LORD on Friday, September 27, 2024 at Serenity Villa in Slinger, WI.

He was born in Merrill, Wisconsin on November 25, 1940, the son of the late Clarence Emerald Earl Layman and Leona Ann (nee Zastrow) Layman (Eckerle).

Alan was a student of Merrill High School and following his schooling, he worked cutting pulp wood around Merril and Tomahawk, WI. After marrying his wife Shirley, they moved to Tomahawk. A short period later, Alan and Shirley moved to Steven’s Point where Alan worked on a road crew. After getting a job hauling sand and gravel for Hank Timblin out of Kewaskum, Alan and Shirley decided to move their family to Campbellsport. Soon after putting down roots with their growing family of seven, Alan and Shirley started Layman’s Excavating. Alan enjoyed digging basements, septic systems, and doing several demolition jobs in the surrounding area. He also worked as an independent truck driver, hauling steel and many other goods around the United States while residing in Wisconsin, Ohio, and Indiana for most of his years until retirement.

Survivors include his children Corina (Tim) O’Brien of Brooksville, FL, Melinda (Dr. David) Krebs of Campbellsport, Wanda (Bob) Ottery of Eden, Jagger Layman of Rhode Island, and Tanya Layman of Slinger; grandchildren Tiffany Immel (special friend Dan Scannell), Kaila (Joshua) Stukenberg, Kyle Borland, Seth Krebs, Mya Krebs, Zachariah Bath and Joshua Bath; brothers Jack Layman of Antigo and Don Layman of Rothschild; many nephews, nieces and great grand children; special friends Barbara MacCorckle, Charlie and Tammy John of Indiana

Alan was preceded in death by his wife Shirley (nee La Barge) Layman, second wife Colleen Abbott Layman; sons Jeffrey Layman and Jason Layman; sisters Janice Berdan and Sharon Mundt of Tomahawk; brothers Bob and Maurice.

Dr. David & Melinda Krebs would like to sincerely thank all of the staff at Serenity Villa for their dedication and exceptional care of Alan for the past 3 years. They would also like to extend a special thank you to NP Marsha Hansen, Kathy Weston and all of the caring staff from Preceptor Hospice for the wonderful care they provided to Alan.
