Alice Jaber
On September 6, 2023, Alice Jaber passed away at the age of 102 years young. It was a life very
well lived. She was born in the Town of Greenbush to Arthur and Martha (Ott), Mensch. Her
strong faith, character and determination helped her to strive to be the best version of herself that
she could be. She lived her life on her own terms with grit, determination and love. Alice went
back to school at 40 to fulfill a dream to study nursing and worked for St Agnes Hospital for 21
years, ultimately as an ER nurse. Following her retirement, she volunteered in the ER for
another 15 years. She stayed active with friends and work colleagues at the Senior Center, water
aerobics and luncheons. She also volunteered at the Galloway House. She loved to travel, the
highlight being a rafting and camping trip on the Colorado River in the Grand Canyon at age 77,
however she was happiest with her family. She enjoyed nothing more than spending time with
her many nephews, nieces and grandchildren. Alice was a long-standing member of the Church
of Peace where she taught Sunday School for 13 years.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Samuel Jaber; and son, Paul (Janet).
Also preceding her were her brothers, sister, and all in-laws. She is survived by her son Mark
(JoAnne) and an abundance of grandchildren, great grandchildren, and very special and
cherished nephews, nieces and friends.
The visitation will be held on Thursday, September 14, 2023, from 1:30 PM – 3:00 PM at
Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. A memorial service will follow the visitation at 3:00 PM at the
funeral home. Cremation has taken place with private family burial at Shrine of Rest
Mausoleum, Ledgeview Memorial Park to follow at a later date.
Her family and friends would like to thank the staff at St Francis Terrace and Hospice Home of
Hope for their kind and compassionate care. If you wish to honor Alice, please consider a
