Alma V. Schmahl

Alma V. Schmahl, 87, of Fond du Lac, died Thursday, May 1, 2014, at the St. Francis Home.

She was born on September 25, 1926, in Chilton, a daughter of Otto and Rosa Beer Horst.

On June 8, 1949, she married William A. Schmahl in Chilton.

Alma was an active member of Hope Lutheran Church, where she participated in the choir, helped in the kitchen with funeral luncheons, was a member of the Ladies Guild and Happy Dusters.  She also made quilts and baptismal cloths and enjoyed visiting with shut-ins.  Alma loved her family and was a wonderful mother and grandmother.

She is survived by two children:  Linda (Martin) Holzschuh of Twin Lake, MI, and Peter (Sara) Schmahl of Fond du Lac; sixgrandchildren:  Adam Holzschuh, Abigail (Sern) Olson, and Jacob Holzschuh, Phillip and Mitchell Schmahl, and Larry (Tiffany) Daffinson; a son-in-law, Mike Daffinson; and three great-grandchildren: Liam Ruppel Schmahl, Porter Daffinson, and Leif Olson.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William, on June 26, 1975; a daughter, Margaret Daffinson; and two sisters:  Verona (Peter) Schmahl and Hazel (Walter “Tex”) Holbert.

The funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, May 5, 2014, at Mach Funeral Chapel & Crematory, 31 East Division Street, Fond du Lac.  Burial will be in Charlestown Union Cemetery, Calumet County.

The visitation will be from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 4, 2014, at Mach Funeral Chapel & Crematory, 31 East Division Street, Fond du Lac, and on Monday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.
