Arlene Catherine Immel
Arlene Catherine Immel, 88, of Fond du Lac, passed away on Saturday, September 23, 2023 at St. Agnes Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was born on February 28, 1935 in the Town of Forest, daughter of Roy and Catherine Walters (Wuest). Arlene attended St. Michael’s School, St. Mary’s Springs Academy and graduated from Fond du Lac Senior High School in 1953 as Valedictorian. On August 6, 1955, she married Maurice Immel at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Dotyville. Arlene worked for the Fond du Lac County Veteran’s Service Office for many years; working under all County Veteran’s Service Officers except the first officer. Arlene enjoyed that kind of work immensely and gave her best to assist all veterans and dependents she came in contact with over the years.
Arlene also held offices in the Altar Society, Dotyville Drifters Snowmobile Club and was a member of Friends of the Senior Center and the Commission on Aging. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church.
Those left behind to cherish her memory include her husband, Maurice; children, Alan (Ann) Immel, Beth (Terry) Butz, Craig “C.J.” Immel (Deb Albrecht), Dawn (Lyle) Nett, Ann (David II) Gurno, and Brenda (James) Aellig; 15 grandchildren, Jeffrey (Jennifer) Immel, Rebecca (Jacob) Wagner, Nicole Immel (Scott Knueppel), Sara (Sean) Rosenberg, Lisa (Bernd) Schneider, Benjamin (Samantha) Immel, Nathan (Allyson) Immel, April Nett (Ingrid Boucher), Matthew (Meghan) Nett, Maggie Nett (Dylan Bram), Joshua Immel, David Gurno III, Brianna Gurno, Erik (Kayla) Aellig, and Jennifer Aellig; 3 step-grandchildren, Sarah, Lexi, and Cassandra (Matthew); 16 great-grandchildren, Hailey, Keegan, Wyatt, Tanner, Madelynn, Knox, Roman, Esmé, Violet, Wren, Landen, Parker, Owen, Josephine, Leah, and Taylor; and 8 step-great-grandchildren, Jaylyn, Jayden, Olivia, Presley, Damon, Kaitlyn, Lilly, and Maci. She is further survived by her sisters-in-law, Mary Ann (George) Scott, Michaelin Walters, and Judi Walters.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her in-laws, Clarence and Florence Immel; brothers Donald (Ida) Walters and LeRoy Walters; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Donald (Noreen) Immel and Daniel (Patricia) Immel; nephews, Dennis, James, and Steven Immel; special cousins, Alfred and Cecelia Roehrig (Wuest); and lifetime friends, Charlotte Morgen and Patricia Blanck.
Private family services will be held. Entombment will be at The Shrine of the Risen Christ Mausoleum in Calvary Cemetery.
Arlene’s family would like to thank the staff and nurses on the 3rd floor ICU and 5th floor at St. Agnes Hospital for their care and compassion.
