Barbara J. Leitner

Our loving sister joined our parents in Heaven on 04/14/2017 at 10:43pm, with her family by her side at the Atrium full time care facility in Chilton, WI, after a long battle with her kidneys and a fall at home.

Barbara was 52 years young; born 07/24/1964, at Calumet Medical Facility, in Chilton, WI. She grew up in the rural community 3 miles North of New Holstein, WI with her four brothers (Timothy – Austin, TX; Ralph-Chilton, WI; Joseph (Cindy)-Kiel, WI; Richard (Crystal Schmitting)-New Holstein, Wi) and one sister (Christine-Phoenix, AZ); under the loving guidance of our Mother and Father Ralph and Shirley(Joas) Leitner.

She graduated from New Holstein High School in 1982, with a variety of careers spanning car sales, to care giving, and even small engine assembly. Many people knew her as Barbie. She enjoyed summer picnics and listening to local bands at various locations throughout the community.

Barbie spent many years living in the Green Bay community, until her health started to fail. She moved closer to family in New Holstein with Simba, her “crazy” kitty, determined to live on her own, with minimal assistance from family and friends.

She had a gift for remembering dates of events; from birthdays, to anniversaries, and other special occasions. We will dearly miss her “Hallmark” greetings, which she took great joy in preparing for almost any notable occasion.

Services will be on Thursday April 20, 2017 at Holy Rosary Church, 1800 Madison St, New Holstein, WI 53061. Visitation will be from 4 PM until 5:45PM with a mass following at 6 PM.

We would like to thank all of her caregivers for helping her over that past several months.
