Carol Frances Klamrowski
Carol Frances Klamrowski of Fond du Lac went on to her final reward on February 18, 2024. She was born in Brownsville on December 16, 1932 to Robert and Martha Schmitz. It was there she had her first horse. She went on to have a riding stable at the Fond du Lac County Fairgrounds. She had made countless friends through her love and knowledge of horses.
In 1962 what has been known as Horseshoe Springs Ranch became Carol’s dream farm with a variety of animals over the years. Besides boarding, shoeing, training, and showing horses, she offered trail rides for a fee. If one couldn’t afford the fee, they might clean stalls or do other odd jobs in exchange for a ride.
In 1955 she founded the Broken Cinch Saddle Club, the states oldest horse club to this day. She was involved in 4-H for many years.
In 1978 she married Tom Klamrowski. Together they owned and operated Horseshoe Springs Ranch and Tack Shop. They were recognized by the American Quarter Horse Association Hall of Fame and Museum as a 50-year breeder of American Quarter Horses. Tom and Carol did not have children of their own but had a strong, positive influence on the direction of many young peoples’ lives over the years. She will be greatly missed by all, humans and animals alike who were lucky enough to know her.
Carol is survived by her brothers Joe, Tom (Karyn), Jim (Jerilyn), and Rob (Eileen); sister Verna; sisters-in-law Janice (Tom) McGauley, Joan Schmitz, and Audrey Klamrowski. She is further survived by many beloved nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Carol was preceded in death by her husband Tom, brothers Mike and John Schmitz, and sisters-in-law Millie and Jean Schmitz.
Carol’s family invites friends and relatives to a time of visitation on Thursday, February 22, 2024 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Fond du Lac from 9:00 AM until 10:45 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place following the visitation at 11:00 AM. Carol will be laid to rest in St. Peter Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Cristo Rey Ranch in Mount Calvary.
