Charles A. “Chuck” Kilmer

Charles A. “Chuck” Kilmer, 86, of Fond du Lac went home to his Lord on Thursday, October 26, 2023 with his beloved family gathered around him at SSM St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac. He was born on April 27, 1937 in Fond du Lac, the son of the late Charles J and Ida E. (Botteen) Kilmer. On November 9, 1957, Chuck was united in marriage to Sandra A. “Sandy” Bera at Division Street United Methodist Church (now Covenant).

Chuck graduated from Fond du Lac Senior high School and worked at the A & P until purchasing the store with partner Nicholas Kohn running K &K Foods on the corner of Martin and Boyd from 1970 to 1977 when it was destroyed by fire. He then worked at WB Place in Hartford until retirement. 

The family had a camping tradition for 40 years beginning with tents progressing to a travel trailer to a mobile home and back to tents. Chuck had many hobbies including star gazing using his telescope, gardening, bird watching, and bowling and golfing with his buddies. Chuck loved go to Schwarz in St Ann for his favorite meal Roast Duck a and at home was Sandy’s favorite sous-chef.

Survivors include his wife Sandy, daughter Judy (Brian) Twohig, son Greg (Erin) Kilmer, grandchildren Rebecca (Rick) Hinz, Tyler (Kayla) Twohig, John (Megan) Twohig, Nicholas (special friend Susie) Kilmer, Christopher (Jean) Gustavus, and Eric (Elizabeth) Gustavus, great grandchildren Neil, Leo, Penelope, Hank, Micah, Emma, and Evan, many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, other relatives and special friends George and Carol and Sylvia family.

Along with his parents, Chuck was preceded in death by his daughter Linda Kilmer and sister Evelyn Dilling.

Visitation for Chuck will be Monday, November 6th from 10:00 am until time of service at Covenant United Methodist Church, 20 N. Marr St. Fond du Lac.

A Memorial Service will be Monday, November 6th at 12:00 pm at Covenant United Methodist Church. Rev. Ho Le will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established in Chuck’s name.
