Cheryl A. Abitz

Cheryl A. Abitz, 72, of Fond du Lac, died on Sunday, February 4, 2024, at SSM-St. Agnes Hospital.

She was born on January 19, 1952, in Fond du Lac, the daughter of Samuel and Iona Starks Shaw. On August 22, 1970, she married Arthur F. Abitz, at Division Street Methodist Church.

Cheryl worked at Bestt Rollr and Mid-States Aluminum. She was a member of Covenant United Methodist Church. Cheryl enjoyed dancing, cooking, puzzles, reading, trips to the casino in Onieda, liked cats and most of all loved spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband Arthur “Art” Abitz of Fond du Lac, her children: Shawn (Amanda) Abitz, Shad Abitz, and Shane (Maranda) Abitz all of Fond du Lac; her grandchildren: Colin, Peyton, Shaylynn and Ava; her siblings: Sam (Vicky) Shaw of Fond du Lac, Jeff (Sharon) Shaw of Kewaskum, and Gary (Judy) Shaw of Fond du Lac, her sister-in-law Chuckie DeWitt of Fond du Lac, and other family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents and her brother Wayne DeWitt.
VISITATION: The family will greet friends and relatives from 10:00 – 12:00 PM, on Saturday, February 10, 2024, at Covenant United Methodist Church, 20 North Marr Street, Fond du Lac.
SERVICE: Memorial Services will be held at 12:00 PM on Saturday, February 10, 2024, at Covenant United Methodist Church, with Rev. Ho Lee officiating. Inurnment at Shrine of Rest Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers memorials appreciated to American Lung Association.
