Darel Alton Smith

Darel Alton Smith, 74, of Campbellsport passed away peacefully of complications of chronic lymphocytic leukemia Sunday Jan. 11, 2015 at his home with his family gathered with him. He was born in Dunn County on Dec. 4, 1940 the son of the late Anton and Lena (nee Beaverson) Smith. On Nov. 26, 1960, Darel married Sandra L. State in St. Paul, MN. Darel worked for Lesters, Inc. as Territory Manager for many years before retiring. He was a member of the Campbellsport Lions, the SnoCougars where he served on the board of directors and the Campbellsport Golf League, he enjoyed shooting trap in various leagues and raised many chocolate labs. Darel also served on the Medicare Advisory Council for Network Health Care. 



Those left behind to cherish his memory include his wife Sandy, his sons Corey (Tara) and Mitchell (Beatrice), his daughters Carmen (Jeff) and Meridee, 9 grandchildren, 1 great granddaughter, his sisters Ila Gillis and Myra (Jerry) Wold, his half-brothers Bob (Judy) Anderson and Dean (Colleen) Smith, other relatives and many friends. 

Darel was preceded in death by his brother Gale and brother-in-law Jim Gillis. 



Memorial services will be held on Saturday Feb. 14, 2015 at 12:30 PM at the Twohig Funeral Home, 109 W. Main St. Campbellsport. Family and friends will participate and inurnment will be in Auburn Cemetery at a later date.
