Darlene J. Brehmer

Darlene J. Brehmer, age 79, of Collins, died on Sunday, July 9, 2023 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Appleton.  She was born May 10, 1944 in Sheboygan, daughter of the late Clarence & Norma (Rades) Rabe.  Darlene married Gordon Brehmer on January 4, 1964 at St. Peter United Church of Christ in Kiel; he preceded her in death on June 11, 1997.

For 40 years, Darlene worked for Chilton Metal Products, now known as Worthington Cylinders in Chilton until her retirement.

She was a devoted and active member of St. Martin Lutheran Church in Chilton where she nurtured her faith and volunteered countless hours with the Women’s Guild of St. Martin.

She enjoyed being around people and volunteered at Shepherd’s Attic in Chilton and enjoyed time bowling at local bowling alley’s.  Throughout her entire life, she loved animals, especially the four legged friends she had in her own life.  It was not uncommon for her to find a poster to purchase that had cute puppies or kittens on it.  Darlene never passed up a good round of Sheepshead and she and Gordon enjoyed  time with their card club traveling from friend’s house to friend’s house where stories were shared and many memories were made.  Darlene also appreciated quiet moments going to the movie theater for a show or time spent sewing or crocheting making works of art with her hands.

Darlene will fondly be remembered as a loving mother with a penchant for cooking and baking delicious meal, complete with a homemade dessert she kept on hand.  Her Christmas cookies and candy were a treat her entire family looked forward to each and every year.  She was a woman with a heart of gold who saw the beauty in everyone around her and cared for each and every person she crossed paths with.

She is survived by her children: Sue Evenson and her significant other, Jim Seiler, Dean Brehmer, Judy (Jim) Andrews; 3 grandchildren: Dylan Evenson, Joshua (Jenny) Arndt, Jordan Arndt and his significant other, Amber Severing; 2 great grandchildren: Aloise & Hudson Arndt; her siblings: Pat (Ken) Groh, Debbie (Jerry) Schuh, Peggy (Greg) Bohl; and a sister-in-law: Diane Rabe.  She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Darlene was preceded in death by her parents; her husband: Gordon; a grandchild: Mitchell Seth Randall; a brother: Dennis Rabe; and a brother-in-law: Bruce Madrow.

Funeral service will be at 3:00 pm on Saturday, July 15, 2023 at St. Martin Lutheran Church (717 Memorial Dr.) in Chilton with Rev. Thomas Schmitt officiating.  Entombment will be in the Knollwood Mausoleum in Manitowoc.  A time of visitation will be held at the church from 1:00 pm until 2:45 pm on Saturday, July 15, 2023.
