David B. Harkins

David B. Harkins, age 69, a resident of Fond du Lac passed away unexpectedly on September 13, 2020 surrounded by his family.

David was born March 6, 1951 in Fond du Lac. He was raised by his grandmother, Helen Harkins.

David married Darlene Grisa on March 13, 1980. She was the love of his life that he lost on March 26, 2014, and he has been truly lost without her for the last six years.

Besides Darlene, he was also avid lover of classic cars, working on the cars and going to car shows. He enjoyed going family functions and breakfast on the weekends with his family; Fred, Bobby, Jodi and Jeff. Everyone that knew David, knew they were going to get the most genuine hug. David’s smile was the cornerstone of the family’s happiness.

David is survived by two daughters, Sheri (Joseph) Lefeber of Fond du Lac, and DeAnn Meisenburg; two sons, Chris (Christine) Nieves of Waupaca, and Joshua (Tania Olson) Harkins of Fond du Lac; eight grandchildren, Kassandra (Shad) Gregor, Tyler (Mollea) Lefeber, Daniel Nieves, Mitchell Nieves, Cecelia Nieves, David Harkins, Bryce Harkins, and Joshua Harkins; two great-grandchildren, Kylie and Kole Gregor; one brother, Fred (Barb) Harkins, nieces, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Darlene; a son, David “Chipper” Harkins; a great-grandson, Gavin Gregor, and his parents.  

David is at peace and happily reunited with his loving wife Darlene.

A short memorial service for David will take place graveside at Calvary Cemetery, 686 Fond Du Lac Ave, Fond du Lac, on Saturday, September 19, 2020 starting at 10:30 AM. A gathering will follow at David’s residence.
