David Gasch

We celebrate the life of David Gasch, who passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, February 9, at the age of 71. Dave was born August 17, 1944 in Chilton, son of the late Russel & Edwina (Kopf) Gasch. He attended Chilton Public Schools and graduated from the University of Wisconsin, Stevens Point where he studied math and found a true passion for economics.

He married Pat Niccoli on June 7, 1969 in Vienna, VA and the couple eventually settled in Chilton where he farmed in the Chilton Township. Dave raised hogs for many years on their farm, and when he retired from pork farming, Dave continued to run the land that he loved.

Dave never allowed the grass to grow under his feet; he was continually occupied. Being community minded, he served as the Chilton Township Treasurer, and was an ardent supporter of learning new thing. He loved the great outdoors, especially hunting, fishing, and working in the woods.

In his free time, Dave enjoyed playing bridge and guitar and spending time with his family and friends. There wasn’t a lot in this world that brought him more joy than going for a ride on the Ranger with his grandchildren.

He will be remembered for his eternal optimism, enthusiasm for life, and the uncanny ability to fix nearly anything with just a bit of duct tape and a pliers.

Survivors include his wife: Pat; their daughter: Audrey (Eric) Gasch-Kelley and their children, Tesla & Penelope Kelley; their son: Mike (Wendy) Gasch and their children, Logan & Delilah Gasch; his 5 siblings: Judy, Gloria, Gordon, Rodney & Amy; and his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Katy, Frank, Jim (Jan) Niccoli and their families. He is further survived by other relatives and many friends.

A gathering and celebration of Dave’s life will take place when this cool Wisconsin winter warms to spring.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Friends of Ledge View Nature Center, PO Box 54, Chilton, Wisconsin 53014. – See more at: http://www.wietingfuneralhome.com/obituaries/david-a-gasch/#sthash.tott1MxS.dpuf
