Destiny Jane Mendoza

Destiny Jane Mendoza, 48, of Milwaukee, passed away peacefully on Monday May 13th, 2024 at Ascension Hospital in Franklin, surrounded by family and close friends.

She was born February 7, 1976 in San Antonio, TX to Daniel Mendoza Jr. and Adela Teran.

Destiny bravely fought a four-year battle with metastatic breast cancer with one thought in mind, “Staying alive as long as I can for my girls.”

Destiny graduated from Goodrich High School in 1994 and worked at the Agnesian Hospital urgent care with her aunt Janie and met her soon-to-be best friend, Christine.

Destiny studied at UW-Oshkosh for two years and worked with the Fond du Lac Boys and Girls Club for 5 years where she made a huge impact working closely with kids, as that was her pride and joy. For her, it was more than a job. She continued her education at Marian College where she graduated in 2013 with a major in Communications and a minor in Spanish.

After graduation, she moved to Milwaukee with her family where she worked as a children’s social worker with La Causa from 2015 until she couldn’t work to the best of her abilities.

Destiny loved her sports! She played strong and hard and was very competitive while playing softball, soccer, and volleyball. Even when she cheered for her favorite teams, the Dallas Cowboys, Milwaukee Brewers, and Milwaukee Bucks, she was competitive. She enjoyed watching her girls play hockey, soccer, and softball, following in her footsteps.

Her love of music was incredibly strong. Her playlists were filled with a plethora of songs of all the genres that you could possibly think of. Some of her favorite artists include Metallica, Alanis Morrissette, The Foo Fighters, The Killers and so much more. Her favorite concert experience, which she couldn’t stop talking about, was getting to see P!NK live and from her own words, “Watching her fly through the air.” Destiny had a voice that would captivate anyone. Her singing was a gift that she shared with everyone around her. She brought joy and comfort through her music, and her legacy will forever live on in the songs she sang.

Destiny had at least 20 tattoos which covered her from the neck down. She had many matching tattoos that she shared with family and friends. She always made sure that each tattoo was full of meaning.

Throughout all the memories she made with family and friends, her contagious laugh is what we all will remember the most.

Destiny’s warriors include her two beautiful daughters, her oldest, Alanicia Jolie Sorensen and her youngest, Aracely Tesoro Sorensen. She was a wonderful mother who was always there when her daughters needed her the most, offering an abundance of support, wisdom, and love. Destiny is further survived by her parents, Adela (Lupe “Pop”) Teran and Daniel Jr. (Bridget) Mendoza, brothers DJ (Kris) Mendoza and Dallas (Connie) Mendoza, Aunt Janie (Jerry Sr.) Medina, Aunt Hilda (John) Uelmen, Uncle John Rene De LaRosa, cousins Nikki (Julian) Bitta

and Johnny (Lana) Uelmen, her trusty companion Rogelio Cantu Jr, her best friend forever, Christine (Jason, Jackson, and Liam) Kuenzi, many nieces, nephews, cousins, and her TRIBE.

Destiny’s Angels, who she is with now, include cousin Jerry Medina Jr., grandparents Juan and Pilar De La Rosa, Carmen Gomez and Daniel Mendoza Sr., and her two precious baby boys, Ryan Jr. and Andren Santana, who were taken too soon.
