Doris Giese
Doris Giese, 93, of Waupun, passed away February 23, 2017 at The Christian Home & Rehabilitation Center with family by her side.
Doris was born December 26, 1923 in the town of Beaver Dam the daughter of Oscar and Cora Davis Guse. Doris attended Beaver Dam schools and graduated in 1942. After graduation she enlisted in the US Army in the Women’s Army Corps known as the W.A.C. as a medical technician where she met the love of her life, Wilbert Giese. The couple was married June 20,1946 and resided in Waupun all their married lives. Doris and Wilbert owned and operated a bar known as Willie & Doris’s for seven years. Doris then worked at Sand-Knit for 23 years. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and American Legion Auxiliary. Doris loved sewing, crocheting, knitting, spending time with her family, and playing cards. She was well known for having matching earrings for every outfit.
Doris is survived by two daughters: Patricia (Frank Van Bever) Holbach, and Beth (Doug) Duer, both of Waupun; seven grandchildren: John (Jodi) Holbach of Waupun, Brian (Rita) Holbach of Waupun, Dean (Kim) Oppermann of Waupun, Tammy (Tyler) Welch of Beaver Dam, Shelly (Gary) Schulz of Waupun, Peggy(Mark) Jahn of Waupun, and Shawn (Emily) Holbach of Waupun; 16 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie, in 2000; sons-in-law, Anthony Oppermann and John Holbach; grandson, Curt Oppermann; great-granddaughter, Brianna Welch; three brothers; and two sisters.
Private funeral services will be held.
