Dorothy (Burke) Anderson
Dorothy (Burke) Anderson, 96, of Fond du Lac, WI passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 28, 2023.
Dorothy was a proud, independent, Midwestern farm girl. Born on her grandfather’s farm in St. Cloud, Wisconsin, she attended St Mary’s Springs High School class of 1945. While in school Dorothy enjoyed playing basketball and volleyball. After graduation, Dorothy worked as a bookkeeper, but soon traded in her life as a career girl to start her legacy as the matriarch of her family of 12 children.
After raising her children, Dorothy volunteered regularly at Broken Bread Food Pantry. She was always ready to give a friend in need a ride to a doctor’s appointment or to a local store for some shopping. Dorothy enjoyed gardening, reading, and going to lunch with her aunts and friends. She was a lifelong devoted Catholic who attended Sunday Mass at Sacred Heart Church.
The Anderson Family Reunions, which took place every 5 years beginning with Dorothy’s 70th birthday, were some of her favorite gatherings. Her children, grandchildren and eventually great grandchildren would all travel to Fond du Lac for the celebrations. Each time, the crowd grew larger and the memories grander.
Dorothy was the daughter of the late Leona (Sippel) and Frank Burke. Dorothy is predeceased by two of her sons, the late Jan (Laurie) Anderson of Parker CO and the late Lynn (Bea) Anderson of Sanford, FL. Dorothy leaves 10 surviving children: Terry (Richard) Bulthaus of Palm Harbor, FL, Penny Nelson of Mount Tabor, NJ, Jeff (Julia) Anderson of Rockford Il, Melody (David) Mazorati of Rockford, Il, Lance Anderson of Fond du Lac, WI, Larry Anderson of Redgranite, WI, Jim Anderson of Fond du Lac, WI, Ken (Jennifer) Anderson of Chippewa, WI, David (Jodi) Anderson of Seekonk, MA and Jarrett (Carol) Anderson of Fond du Lac, WI. Dorothy was loved and adored by her many grandchildren as well as her great grandchildren.
A Mass will be held at Sacred Heart Church at 11 am, on Saturday, September 30, 2023, with burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery.
