Duane R. DuBois
Duane R. DuBois, age 84, of Sherwood, died on Sunday, August 5, 2015 at Century Ridge in Chilton. He was born April 7, 1934 in Boone, Iowa, son of the late Gerald & Leone (Hansen) DuBois.
Duane graduated from Iowa University with his undergraduate degree before obtaining his Law Degree from Drake University. While at Iowa University, he was enrolled in the ROTC program. Once through the program, he was an officer in the United States Army when he went to Boot Camp he was proudly made a drill sergeant immediately so he was able to direct the other soldiers in their daily routines.
Following his honorable discharge, he worked as a Deputy Chief for the Iowa Public Safety Department before turning his eye to corporate law at Des Moines Republic. His career led him to Milwaukee where he worked at what is now known as UNUM until his retirement in 1995.
On the western shore of Lake Winnebago, Duane married Paula Nennig on August 20, 1993 in Oshkosh. The couple shared a love of boating and had several boats over the years, each aptly named “High Life”. Besides boating, the couple also shared a passion for camping and cherished moments at their beloved Vista Royale Campground with their family and many friends they’ve met over the years.
Duane was a member of the Iowa, Michigan and Wisconsin Bar Associations and was incredibly meticulous in all aspects of his life. In his early years, he enjoyed swinging the sticks at many golf courses throughout the area and was a clutch bowler, even registering a 300 game. He was also a strong athlete in his youth and he held a passion for baseball and football throughout his life.
Duane’s easy going personality and funny attitude will be greatly missed by all those who loved him; the world has truly lost a great man, and an even greater friend.
