Elmer E. Petrie
Elmer E. Petrie, 86, of St. Peter, passed away with family at his side on December 15, 2013 at All About Life Rehabilitation Center. Elmer was born on May 8, 1927 in St. Peter, a son of Edward N. and Elizabeth (Vogds) Petrie.
On May 9, 1951 he married Delores Steffes at St. Joseph Catholic Church, St. Joe.
Elmer is a 1945 graduate of Fond du Lac Senior High School. He was employed with Petrie’s restaurant while he continued to work on the family dairy farm.
Elmer was a member of Holy Family Parish at St. Peter Church where he was a member of the Holy Name Society.
He was an avid reader and especially enjoyed reading history. Farming and family were his loves.
Elmer is survived by Delores, his wife of 62 years; two sons, Daniel and John (Irene) all of St. Peter; daughter-n-law, Rosie (David) Kreisman of Mt. Calvary; seven grandchildren, Michael (Katie Johnson) Petrie, Shelly (Mike) Weber, Andy (Marie Steffes) Petrie, Rebecca (Torrin) Santy, Jennifer (Christopher) Pirrello, Steven (Jada) Petrie and Kelly (fiance Justin Morgan) Petrie; three great grandchildren, Lucas Petire, Mason Petrie and Brylee Santy; two sisters, Edna Dougherty and Maryann (Bob) Williams; in-laws, Donald (Joan) Steffes, Joseph (Rae Marie) Steffes, Vernon (Gail) Steffes, Mary Ann (Gene) Birschbach, Patricia Birschbach, Judith (Ed) Zingsheim and Donna Steffes; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Preceding Elmer in death are his parents; one son, Robert “Bob”; one grandson, Todd Petrie; one brother, Clarence (Anita) Petrie; five brothers-in-law, James Dougherty, Vern Thielmann, Eugene Steffes, Sylvan Steffes and Henry Birschbach.
Visitation: Elmer’s family will receive relatives and friends at the Zacherl Funeral Home, 875 E. Division St., Fond du Lac, WI on Thursday, December 19, 2013 from 4:00 until 7:30 PM. There is also visitation at the funeral home on Friday, December 20, from 9:00 until 10:15 AM.
Service: A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, December 20, 2013 in St. Peter Catholic Church, Village of St. Peter, at 11:00 AM. Following the Mass burial will be in St. Peter Cemetery.
