Eva Hopper

Eva Hopper, 93 of Fond du Lac is home sick no more!

Jesus came for her just liked He promised when He said “I am going to prepare a place for you….when everything is ready, I will come and get you so that you will always be where I am”. He came for her on July 31st 2012.

She was born to Joseph and Amorette McCaffery on February 12th 1928. She graduated from St. Mary Springs High School and went on to obtain a license of cosmetology. She worked as a beautician at a couple of local hair salons but also cut a whole lot of hair right in her own kitchen.

Eva met the love of her life at a Girl Scout / Boy Scout jamboree where they were both leaders. Jack asked Eva to dance in an attempt to break the ice for the rest of the scouts. That dance led to a 70 year long marriage. Together they raised 6 children; Jeff (Janet) Hopper, Mark (Kim) Hopper, Sue (Jamie) Lapcewich, Linda (Bob) Flood, Joel (Kathy) Hopper, Kevin (Lorena) Hopper. Eva was Grandma “Who Who” to 22 grand kids and 24 great grand Kids.

Because she was married to Jack Hopper, Eva did a lot of skiing and golfing but her greatest passion was for her children and grand children. During the time they lived in Florida, there was no limit to how many children we could bring and stay with them. Eva would cook breakfast, lunch and supper (including dessert for each meal) everyday we stayed there.

Five years before her death, Eva fell and broke her leg (Femur bone). The trauma of that greatly accelerated her dementia. It became painfully clear that both conditions would require skilled nursing and a secured facility. She finished out her days on earth at the Fond du Lac Lutheran Home to whom we are extremely grateful to the entire staff for the love and care she received there along with the TLC from her hospice care takers. A heart felt thank you for every single person that showed kindness to Eva. They would all testify that what she wanted more than anything was to GO HOME! Praise God she is finally home where she belongs. God’s grace was sufficient!

There will be a visitation from 9-11 a.m. on Friday, August 6th at Holy Family Catholic Church on 4th street in Fond du Lac with a Mass at 11 to celebrate Eva’s life.

Twohig Funeral Home is serving the family with online guestbook and condolences at www.twohigfunerals.com.
