Francis J. King Jr

Francis J. King Jr., 91, passed away on January 30, 2024. He was born in Fond du Lac to the late Francis and Mary (Lyons) King Sr.

Francis attended Roosevelt High and Goodrich Senior High School. He served honorably in the U.S. Army in 1952 and was stationed at Grand Island, New York.

Francis married Barbara Florence Thorsby on April 18, 1954. He was employed at Combination Door and Fred Ruepings Leather.

Francis said his “favorite memory was going to the land and going fishing with his lovely wife, Barbara, and sitting at the campfire with family and friends.” He enjoyed a unique hobby of buying and selling lawn mowers and snowblowers.

Francis is survived by his wife of 69 years, Barbara; four daughters Debra King, Cheryl (Paul) Rahmer, Sheila King and Karen (Steve) Rahmer; five grandchildren Travis King, Melissa (Dallas) Kissinger, Brian (Ashley) Rahmer, Nathan (Laura) Rahmer and Nicole (Brend Lucus) Rahmer; 14 great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Francis was preceded in death by his sister Betty Ann Smith, grandson Shawn Steven King and numerous brother and sister-in-laws.

The family extends a special thank you to BethAnn Hoffman for comforting Francis in his last hour, and to Azura Memory Care and Generations Hospice for taking care of Francis the past two and a half years.

SERVICE: Francis’ family invites relatives and friends to a time of visitation on Sunday, February 4, 2024 at Zacherl Funeral Home at 1:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Francis will be laid to rest in Calvary Mausoleum – Chapel of the Risen Christ.
