Franklin J. Wilhelms
Franklin J. Wilhelms, 91, died peacefully April 11, 2023 at home with his family by his side. He was born September 23, 1931 in Fond du Lac, son of Edward and Gertrude (Meyer) Wilhelms. On September 15, 1956 he married Joanne Harkins at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Fond du Lac.
Frank was a Korean Veteran, who served in the Marines from 1951-1954. He served in the Korean Conflict, made Sgt 1st Class, received United Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and The Ambassador for Peace Korean War Medal.
He was a 50-year member of Eagles Aries #270, was past president and also a trustee. He belonged to American Legion Post #75 and VFW.
Frank loved his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his buddies and family. He was always willing to lend a hand. He worked for Jack Twohig Floor Covering retiring in 1999. Then he worked part-time with his son-in-law.
He is survived by “3 brats and a boy” as he fondly referred to us. A son, Timothy (Yvette) Wilhelms; 3 daughters, Deborah (Fiancé Dennis) Wilhelms, Lori (Wayne) Heisler, Bonnie (John) Williams; grandchildren, Joseph (Amy), Rebecca, Heidi, Keith (Fiancée Krystle), Katie (Kris), Tyler (Siera), Michael (Fiancée Crystal), and Lane; great-grandchildren, Ashley, Brennan, Ya’Liez, Dimitri II, La’Verne III, Matthew, William, Nicholas, Claire, Lilly, and one expected in September; great-great grandchildren, Andrew, Kasandra, Scarlett, Waylon, and Dakota. He is further survived by sister, Mary Ann (Joe) Wiocek and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Joanne in 2020; great-granddaughter, Violet, his parents, his grandparents, 7 sisters, and 4 brothers.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 15, 2023 from 9:30 am until 11:30 am at Twohig Funeral Home, 305 Fond du Lac Ave Fond du Lac, WI. 54935. The funeral service will begin at 11:30 am and burial will follow with full Military Honors at Ledgeview Memorial Park.
