Frederick “Fred” Baldwin

Frederick “Fred” Baldwin, passed away Saturday, December 21, 2024.

Fred was born in Fond du Lac to George and Myrtle (Mathers) Baldwin. Fred grew up in Fond du Lac and graduated from Fond du Lac High School. On May 17, 1953 he married Donna Towne in Fond du Lac. Fred and Donna lived in Fond du Lac most of their lives. Their union lasted 72 years. Fred apprenticed at Giddings & Lewis in Fond du Lac and became a design engineer. He worked at G&L for 46 years and retired in 1995.

Fred served in the Army during the Korean War, achieving the rank of sergeant. He served as an aerial photo interpreter for the army intelligence. He received the Bronze Star for meritorious service. Fred loved sports, especially bowling, tennis, golf, and baseball. He enjoyed spending a great amount of time with his children. He also coached his sons Little League baseball teams. He played in the G&L golf league for years even after retiring. His favorite sport was bowling. He was inducted into the Fond du Lac bowling association All-Star team multiple years and won 3 consecutive Fond du Lac Bowling Association Senior All-Star awards. He bowled an 835 series at the age of 74. Fred was a proud member of the Brotherton Indian Nation. Those who knew Fred well, knew that he had a great sense of humor and loved joking around with everyone.

Fred is survived by his wife, Donna and their children Mark (Melissa) Baldwin, of Appleton, Brian (Jean) Baldwin of Milwaukee, and Paula (Carl) Herrick of Kennesaw, Georgia. He is further survived by seven grandchildren: Rachel Baldwin of Los Angeles, California, Kyle (Eileen) Baldwin of Greendale, Wisconsin, Luke (Andrea) Baldwin of Springfield, Ohio, Anna Baldwin of Madison, Joe Baldwin of Port Washington, and Mikaela & Madison Herrick of Kennesaw, Georgia. He is also survived by three great grandchildren: Sloane, Merrick and Marcella Baldwin. He is also survived by his sister, Cleone Ayers of Lancaster, Wisconsin. He was preceded in death by his sister Helen Wiedenmeier.

VISITATION: The family will greet friends and relatives from 10:30 AM – 12:00 PM on Monday, December 30, 2024, at Kurki Funeral Chapel & Crematory, 31 East Division Street, Fond du Lac.

SERVICE: Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM on Monday, December 30, 2024, at Kurki Funeral Chapel & Crematory. Cremation will follow the services.
