Gary S. Grasse

Gary S. Grasse, 61, passed away at Hospice Home of Hope on August 18,

2023. He was born in Sheboygan to the late Roman and Phyllis (Bruggink)

Grasse on January 25, 1962. Gary graduated in 1981 from Cedar Grove

High School.

Gary was united in marriage to Lori L. Westerbeke on July 22, 1989.

Gary was employed at Mercury Marine for over 30 years and was a

member of IAMAW Local Lodge 1947 and the First Presbyterian Church.

Gary enjoyed spending time with family and friends, going out for steak

dinners and ice-cold Mexican Coke in glass bottles. He loved taking trips to

Las Vegas. Gary was very particular about the way things were done. He

meticulously cared for his cars and took great pride in home improvement

projects for his own home as well as friends’. Gary also had deep affection

for his dogs, Sparky and Lance.

Gary is survived by his wife Lori, sons Jason and Gregory (Carly), sisters

Linda (Glenn) Ubbelohde and Susan (John) Ernster, nieces Gina

Adamavich, Jaime (Jason) McCoy and Jennifer (Bailey) Hackbarth and

nephews Nicholas (Dani) Ernster, Peter Miller, Christopher Miller and Todd

(Jeani) Oppeneer. He is further survived by his father-in-law Wayne

(Marvel) Westerbeke, sister-in-law Lynda Westerbeke, brother-in-law Joel

(Corrie) Westerbeke, other relatives and many friends.

In addition to his parents, Gary was preceded in death by his sons Bradley

J. Grasse and Jeffrey S. Grasse, nephew Ryan G. Ubbelohde and sister

Deborah Miller.

Gary’s family is grateful to Dr. Jennifer Connelley and her team, the staff at

Agnesian Cancer Center, Hospice Home Health, Hospice Home of Hope

and the First Presbyterian Church.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 23, 2023 at Zacherl

Funeral Home at 3:00 p.m. To honor Gary’s memory, please wear your

favorite band or tie-dyed t-shirt. A Celebration of Life honoring Gary’s spirit

will immediately follow at the Lakeside Park Pavillion. As laughter is the

best medicine, we hope everyone who knows Gary is willing to share a fun

story or memory.
