Gordon C. Treffert

Gordon C. Treffert, 88, of North Fond du Lac, died Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at Lakeview Estates, Fond du Lac.  He was born November 15, 1924 in Lamartine, WI, the son of Otto and Clara Wertz Treffert.  On June 10, 1950 he married Doris M. Olsen at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Fond du Lac.  Gordon worked for G & L and for Mercury Marine retiring in 1990.  He was North Fond du Lac Village President from 1971 – 1981, and he served or volunteered on various boards including, Fond du Lac County Board, AARP, Merc Credit Union, North Fond du Lac Public Library Board, CWAG, Optimist Club, TRIAD, was recording secretary for IAMAW Lodge 1947, and was past President of Fond du Lac Lions Club.  Gordon enjoyed woodworking, gardening, telling jokes, people and loved spending time with his family.

 

He is survived by his wife, Doris; three children, Daniel (Jacquelyn) Treffert, Newnan, GA, Mary Beth (Rachelle Wood) Kensek, Andover, MN, Brian Jay Treffert, Palm Springs, CA; four grandchildren, Scott Treffert, Timothy (Sara) Treffert, Emily (Mark) Madden, Ross Treffert; one great grandchild; nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Bruce and Steven; one son-in-law, Lon Kensek; six siblings, Walter, Norman, Victor, Lawrence, Loretta and Marcella.

 

The visitation will be held from 4:00 – 7:00 PM on Friday, March 15, 2013 at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home.  The Celebration of his Life will be held at 7:00 PM on Friday, March 15, 2013 at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home with Pastor Gail Brown officiating.  Cremation will follow the traditional services.

 

Memorials are appreciated to the North Fond du Lac Public Library in Gordon’s name.
