Harvey E. Bearwald
Harvey E. Bearwald, 97, a resident of Lake View Estates for the past 12 years, died Monday, January 20, 2014 at St. Francis Home. He was born May 7, 1916 in the Town of Eldorado, the son of Ernst and Minnie Miller Bearwald. On January 21, 1939 he married Helen Bubolz at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Nekimi. Helen preceded him in death on April 14, 2002. He owned and operated a dairy farm, retiring in 1969 and also worked at Mercury Marine for 12 years. Harvey had a wonderful retirement of more than 30 years. He was a life-long member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Nekimi and its oldest member. He was a member of the Senior Saints of St. John’s Lutheran Church and the Mercury Marine Retirees. Harvey enjoyed traveling, fishing, hunting, bingo, cribbage, and sheep’s head. He also enjoyed living at Lake View Estates and spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by three daughters, Karen Miller, Neshkoro, Carla (Dean) Hanna, Taycheedah, Julie (Rick) Mattheis, Rosendale; three granddaughters, Sandra (Mike) Beverly, NC, Lisa (P.J.) Kohlman, Eagle River, Megan (Nicholas) Wehle, Fond du Lac; three grandsons, Todd (Cortney) Miller, Cudahy, Aaron (Tina) Hanna, Fond du Lac, Nicholas (Terra) Mattheis, Brandon; six great grandchildren, Robert and Mary Alex Beverly, Christian and Jordan Kohlman, Mac and Olivia Mattheis, many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; an infant son, Harvey Allen; an infant granddaughter, Kayla Jean Mattheis; one son-in-law, Robert Miller; one brother, Clarence (Clara) Bearwald, three sisters, Leona (Erv) Merten, Edna (Gerhard) Schumacher and Viola (Clarence) Miller, five brothers-in-law, two sisters-in-law.
VISITATION: The visitation will be held from 1:00 – 3:00 PM on Friday, January 24, 2014 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Nekimi, 491 Old Oregon Street Road, Oshkosh. FUNERAL: The funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM on Friday, January 24, 2014 at St. John’s Lutheran Church with Rev. James Reiff officiating. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorials would be appreciated in Harvey’s name.
The family extends a special thank you to the staff of Lakeview Estates, especially Lucy, who made his life worthwhile, and many friends at Lakeview. Also to the St. Francis Home staff for making his last days on earth peaceful and comforting and to the staff of St. Agnes ER for your kindness.
