Heather Mary Hickey Brenner

Heather Mary Hickey Brenner passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday evening, August 20th, surrounded by her children and David, her husband.

Heather was born on May 17, 1962, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and adopted by David and Elizabeth Hickey.

She was born into a loving family where her father was an orthodontist, and her mother was a social worker. As a family they enjoyed traveling, boating, and skiing.

As a young lady, she attended Marian College in Fond du Lac, where she built a great network of friends. This came easy to her because of her bubbly personality. She was accepting of everyone regardless of their status. Both Heather and her mother would always say, “Because nice matters.”

One of the ways Heather showed her love to people was her personalized cards for birthdays, life achievements, and holidays. She would spend hours to ensure each card was unique for the recipient. She sent over 150 handmade Christmas cards every year!

As a family, we remember Heather’s love of boating and fishing, sometimes out-fishing Dave with some really large Walleye. Heather also loved to go to stamping shows to find new treasures for her cards. Her stamping parties for the “ladies” during deer hunting season were famous and full of merriment and laughter. Heather mastered the recipe for dressing (stuffing) at Thanksgiving, Christmas, and other holidays. In fact, we thought it was equal to “Grandma Brenner’s” and it was devoured in great quantities.

Heather always said, “A house isn’t a home without a dog.” Her dog, Rosie, as well as her three grand-dogs, Olive, Spud, and Maple, were very much part of her family.

Surviving Heather is her husband, David Walter Brenner; her children, Andrew (Matthew Wolfert), William (Margaret Ginke), and Jennifer.

Also surviving Heather are her brothers, Thomas (Isobel) Hickey and Timothy (Katie) Hickey; her Nieces and Nephews Michael, Maeve, Ryan, and Regan.

Further surviving Heather are her sister and brother-in-laws, Robert (Sharon) Brenner, Daniel (Carol) Brenner, Marilyn (Francis) Giebel, Carol (Christopher) Baltz, and Virginia (Steve) Balthazor.

Preceding her in death are her parents, David and Elizabeth Hickey, as well as her parents-in-law, Bernard and Jeanette Brenner.

Heather’s family invites friends and relatives to a time of visitation on Wednesday, August 28, 2024 from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Zacherl Funeral Home. Visitation will continue on Thursday, August 29, 2024 at Holy Cross Church, 308 S. County W, Mt. Calvary, WI from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place following the visitation at 11:00 AM.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.

The family wishes to thank everyone for the outpouring of love, support, and prayers during this tough time.
