Herbert Francis Popp
Herbert Francis Popp, age 82, of Chilton, died on Tuesday, February 10, 2015 at Theda Clark Medical Center in Neenah. He was born December 14, 1932 in the Town of Brothertown, son of the late Herbert Sr. & Eleanor (Hanke) Popp. He married Elsie Ecker on October 1, 1955 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Stockbridge. He was a member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church, formerly Holy Trinity Parish in Jericho, the Knights of Columbus, the German American Club, and the National Farmer’s Organization where he annually participated in the national convention at various locations throughout the United States. In his free time, Herbert enjoyed a little hunting, trap shooting and various travels with his wife. He especially loved his family and looked forward to the many family gatherings throughout the year. Herbert was a soft-spoken individual, always quick with a joke and a warm smile and greeting to all those he met. His greatest passion and hobby was his work on the family homestead in the Town of Brothertown. Although he occasionally used the word “retired”, Herbert never really gave up his farming life and the desire to care for his land and animals.
