James G. Selwitschka Jr

James G. Selwitschka Jr, affectionately known as “Jimmy,” age 59, was called home on October 10, 2024, at his residence, the Stone Family Group Home, where he resided with three awesome residents, Marky, David, and Todd. He was born on March 14, 1965, in Tacoma, WA, to James G. Selwitschka and Donna M. Buck.

Born with Congenital Rubella Syndrome, Jimmy became completely deaf and blind at an early age. Despite the challenges he faced, he embraced a simple yet fulfilling life, spreading joy and light to everyone fortunate enough to know him throughout the 59 years that God blessed us with his presence.

Jimmy found happiness in life’s little pleasures—ice cream, car rides, McDonald’s burgers, and strawberry shakes were among his favorites. However, he made it clear that he had no love for anything gluten-free! His life stood as a beautiful reminder that every life holds purpose, inspiring those around him to appreciate the senses we often take for granted: sight, sound, and meaningful connection.

Through tactile sign language, Jimmy communicated deeply with the people in his life. His devoted mother and two exceptional caregivers, Tim and Susan Hanlon, played instrumental roles in teaching him to express himself, ensuring he remained connected to the world. Family, friends, and caregivers were his greatest treasures, and Jimmy had a special gift for building bonds in his own unique way—reminding us all of the importance of being present and cherishing the time we share with others.

Jimmy is survived by his father, James G. Selwitschka (Judith) of Green Bay, WI; his sisters, Catherine Selwitschka of Fond du Lac, WI, and Christine (Charles) Quackenboss of Eden, WI. He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Donna M. Zander, with whom he is now joyfully reunited in eternal life.

The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to everyone who cared for Jimmy. The staff at the ARC of Fond du Lac, Stone Family Group Home, Lakeland Care, and Generations Hospice—care that will forever be remembered with gratitude.

A very special thank you goes to Tim and Susan Hanlon. Your unwavering dedication not only ensured that Jimmy’s every need was met but also gave him more than we ever could have imagined. Your friendship and care meant the world to him—and to us. You were more than caregivers; you were his best friends. You will always hold a special place in our hearts.

We find peace in knowing that Jimmy is now whole in God’s eyes, free from the limitations he faced in this life. While our hearts ache with his loss, we are comforted by the knowledge that he rests now in the arms of his Creator.

A service celebrating Jimmy’s life will be held for family and close friends on Saturday, October 19, 2024, at Zacherl Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 9 am – 10:30 am with funeral to follow.
