Janice Marie (Gaffney) Schuh

Janice Marie (Gaffney) Schuh, age 84, of Fond du Lac and St. Cloud, WI, passed away Saturday, August 19, 2023.

She was born April 11, 1939, at St. Agnes Hospital to Lawrence & Nelora (Klein) Gaffney. Jan grew up on Gillett Street in Fond du Lac and went to grade school at St. Joseph’s Catholic School in Fond du Lac and attended and graduated from St. Mary’s Springs High School. She graduated from Marian College with a Bachelor of Science from the St. Agnes School of Medical Technology. Janice started her working career at Associated Physicians in Fond du Lac and eventually finished her career at Consultants Laboratory.

On June 17, 1961, she married James Schuh at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Fond du Lac.

Throughout her life, Janice was always busy with school and family activities, doing crafts, sewing, and singing in the St. Joe’s choir of rural St. Cloud. She liked camping with her family, spending winters in Arizona, and traveling throughout the United States as well as to Ireland and Italy. Later in life, she loved spending time surrounded by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren at Wolf Lake.

Janice is survived by her husband of 62 years, James Schuh; her four sons, Steven (Hong-Que), Thomas, David (Lisa), Kevin (David); seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; her sister, Maureen Kania; and her brother, Lawrence Gaffney jr.

Preceding her in death were her daughter, Deborah; and her parents, Lawrence & Nelora Gaffney.

A Liturgy Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, August 25, 2023, at Our Lady of the Holyland Parish-St. Joe’s Site, W602 County Road G, St. Cloud, WI 53079. Rev. Oliver Bambenek, OFM Cap and Rev. Paul Koenig, OFM Cap will concelebrate. Entombment will take place at Calvary Mausoleum in Fond du Lac.

Visitation: Family and friends may visit with Jan’s family at the Sippel Funeral Home, 1311 Thorp Street, St. Cloud, WI 53079, on Thursday, August 24th from 4:30 PM until 7:00 PM and again Friday morning at the funeral home from 9:00 AM until 10:00 AM.

Jan resided at the Villa Loretto in Mount Calvary for the past 11 years. She loved the staff, nurses, and animals, especially the lemurs of Cristo Rey Ranch. Her bright eyes and cute smile will be missed by all that knew her.
