Jeanette Marie Lloyd

Jeanette Marie Lloyd (Ryan), passed away peacefully on May 21, 2024, at SSM Health Hospice Home of Health.  Jeanette was born on August 20, 1928, the daughter of Maurice and Violet Ryan (Huck) and told many great stories of an adventurous childhood with her three brothers on a dairy farm outside of Eden. She attended grade school in the Eden area and graduated from Campbellsport High School in 1945. Her life took a pleasant turn when her future husband, Thomas Lloyd, asked her to dance while enjoying an evening at the dance hall by Lake Deneveu. They were married on a beautiful sunny day on     September 6, 1947 at St. Mary’s Church in Eden and began a remarkable journey together. Tom and Jeanette worked side by side on a dairy farm while raising a large family of 13 children. She was a diligent mother, always supporting her children (even when they may not have deserved it) and instilling a strong work ethic through her actions. Jeanette was up early and didn’t stop moving and held all of her children to the same standard. Her children all fondly remember being told to “get outside and play” as she was not fond of idle time. As though raising a family of this size was not enough, Jeanette shared her talent of cooking while serving as a cook at Green Acres Supper Club and Harbor Haven.

Jeanette was a devoted Catholic and had an incredible faith and belief in God. Having 13 children, things could get hairy from time to time, but one thing was certain, the Lloyd’s would be spilling out of a pew on the Virgin Marys side of St. Mary’s Eden mass. She was a staple at events at St. Mary’s Eden for many decades and enjoyed working chicken dinners, participating in the National Catholic Society of Foresters and the Altar Society. Jeanette was frequently engaged in prayer or saying her rosary and her strong faith sustained her through difficult times. One such difficult time was the passing of her husband Thomas Lloyd on May 30, 2015, the pain of the loss was evident and her children feel comfort in knowing that Mom and Dad are together and her wait is over.

Jeanette’s love and support will be missed by her 13 children (12 surviving), Thomas Lloyd, Kathleen Roehl, Susan Butz, Michael Lloyd, Patrick (Linda) Lloyd, Stephen (Julie) Lloyd, Mary (David) Jozefowski, Gary (Lori) Lloyd, John (Teresa) Lloyd, Robert (Marie) Lloyd, Bridget (David) Guell, and Ann Trombley: 31 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren. She is further survived by her brother Karl Ryan: sister-in-laws Marjorie Devine and Joan Lehr:  brother-in-law Donald Lloyd: nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents: two brothers, Raymond and David Ryan: one son James Lloyd: daughter-in-laws Mary Lloyd (Bartelt) and Diane Sosinski (Scannell): son-in-law’s John Roehl and Rick Butz: three grandchildren Brian Butz, Stacy and Tracy Lloyd: two great-grandchildren Isabelle Smith, and Angel Jozefowski: mother-in-law and father-in-law Thomas A. Lloyd and Francis Lloyd (Pucker) and other family and friends.

We would like to thank St. Francis Home and the SSM Health Hospice Home of Health staff for the wonderful care Mom received during her stay.
