Jeannette Wehner

Jeannette Wehner, age 94, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 12, at St. Francis Home. Born on September 15, 1931, in Ashford, she was the daughter of Richard and Loretta Zehren.

On April 26th, 1952, she married Howard Wehner in Fond du Lac. He preceded her in death on April 7th, 2006.

Jeannette dedicated her life to her family as a stay-at-home mom, raising five wonderful children. She was also involved in the lives of her grandchildren. Family gatherings, especially during the holidays, brought her great joy. She liked working outdoors and tending to her geraniums. Known for her sense of humor, Jeannette loved making others laugh. The family also has fond memories of time spent together at Wolf Lake, sitting on the boathouse, telling jokes, and sharing popcorn around bonfires with family and friends.

She was devoted to her Catholic faith and was a member of Holy Family Parish.

She is survived by her beloved children, Dave Wehner, Mary (Greg) Freiherr, Tom (Christie) Wehner, and Pam Wehner (daughter-in-law).

She was a loving grandma, or “Neema” to Michael (Marina) Wehner, Nora (Daniel) Roxbury, Casey (Chelsea) Freiherr, Bradley (Fiancé Mia) Freiherr, Aaron (Nicole) Wehner, Amelia (Fiancé Jacob) Wehner, and step-grandson Brett (Leah) Zimmermann.

Her great-grandchildren include Sophia, Liam, Wells and Barrett Owen-Freiherr, Easton Schmidt, Pierce and Lydia Roxbury, Hudson Wehner, and Eli Zimmermann.

She is further survived by her brother Richard (Janet) Zehren and sister-in-law Claudia Zehren. She was also blessed to have many special nieces, nephews and friends in her life.

Jeannette was preceded in death by her husband, Howard; her sons, Steve and John; her sisters and brothers-in-law, Delores (Gordon) Giebel and Patricia (James) Moses; her brother-in-law Robert Wehner; and her brothers and sister-in-law, Sylvester Zehren, Harvey (Patricia) Zehren, and James Zehren.

In honor of Jeannette being a breast cancer survivor, the family kindly requests memorial donations be made to any charity that benefits cancer patients, in lieu of flowers.

The family extends their deepest gratitude to the staff of St. Francis Home for the compassionate care provided and to SSM Hospice for their support. Special thanks are given to our brother Dave, for the loving care of our mother, helping her to live at home through her 94th birthday.

Visitation will take place on Monday, April 20, 2026, from 3:00 pm until 4:45 pm, at Holy Family – St. Mary, 59 E. Merrill Ave., Fond du Lac, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 5:00 pm. A private family burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at 10:00 am.

We love you and will miss you dearly, but we take comfort in knowing that you are reunited with family and friends in heaven.
