Jerolyn A. “Mutzi” Carter

Jerolyn A. “Mutzi” Carter, 71, of Fond du Lac, passed away peacefully on March 1, 2026, with her loving family by her side.

She was born on December 30, 1954, to the late Norbert and Evelyn (Pickart) Schneider, the middle child in a lively family of 13. She graduated from L.P. Goodrich High School in 1973, where many knew her simply as “Jeri.”

In 1974, she married Robert Jacobs, and together they had three children. In 1985, she married Willie Carter, and they welcomed two more children into the family.

On the day she passed, Mutzi celebrated 516 days of sobriety — a milestone she was proud of and one that proved she could still surprise us all in the very best ways.

Mutzi wore many hats throughout her life, but she will be especially remembered in the community for her years working at Piggly Wiggly, a job she truly enjoyed. She found joy in simple routines — balancing her checkbook to the penny and making sure everything added up just right. More than anything, she was a devoted and loving mom and Nana.

Mutzi is survived by her five children: Kimberly (Jerry) Golla of Fond du Lac; Kelly (Sara) Jacobs of Waukesha; Kory Jacobs of Fond du Lac; Cameo Carter (fiancé Chris) of Fond du Lac; and Willie (Alanna) Carter Jr. of Neenah.

She was a proud grandmother to eight grandchildren who lovingly called her “Nana,” a title she adored: Fischer, Porter, and Thatcher Golla; Owen, Noah, and Emmy Lex; and Elias and Azariah Carter. Mutzi also leaves behind her beloved dog, Tinker.

She is further survived by her siblings: Ron (Mary) Schneider of Brothertown; Russell (Jeanne) Schneider of Mt. Calvary; Roque Schneider of Fond du Lac; Rory (Reine) Schneider of Fond du Lac; Rodger (Jean) Schneider of Lamartine; Janice (Ken) Nett of Marytown; Julie (Wilbur) Sparks of Campbellsport; Joelene Broennimann of Fond du Lac; and Martha Schneider of Taycheedah; along with many nieces and nephews who brought her great joy.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her former spouses; her siblings, Randy Schneider, Rick Schneider, Joyetta (Gerry) Nett, and Jacqueline (Paul) Deanovich; and her sister-in-law, Vicki Schneider.

A special thank you to the registered nurses and respiratory therapists in the intensive care unit at St. Agnes Hospital.
