Judith Ann Mortensen

Judith Ann Mortensen, age 85, of town of Friendship, passed away on Friday, September 26, 2025, at the Hospice Home of Hope. She was born August 13, 1940, at St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac, the daughter of Royal Balthazor and Margaret Fisher Balthazor.

She graduated from St. Mary Springs Academy in 1958. She married Norman Mortensen on April 23, 1960, at St. Louis Church and they celebrated 65 years of marriage in 2025.

Judy worked at St. Agnes Hospital until her daughter Theresa was born in 1961 and a son Steve Alan in 1962. She returned to work at St. Agnes ER after her children went to school. She was a volunteer with EMS for the North Fond du Lac Fire Department for many years. She spent several years under Dr. Stormo as Deputy Coroner. She also did mobile insurance physicals for many years and enjoyed meeting many people.

She enjoyed decorating the house inside and out and entertaining. Her hobbies included cooking for others, reading, and playing any and all card games. She liked trips to the casino with Norm, was a loyal Packer fan, and enjoyed thrift sales. Together with Dick and Barb they built a log cabin in Big Falls where they shared cutting 3 acres of lawn, cross country skiing, turkey and deer hunting and enjoyed much card playing.

Throughout her marriage she was an active member of the community. She was a Girl Scout leader and started and organized the girls’ softball league. She was a volunteer for loaves and fishes for 13 years.

Survivors include her husband Norman, son Steve, grandson Adam and Sara, great grandchildren Silas and Savanna, daughter Theresa and great granddaughter Megan, sister Barbara Mortensen, married to Norman’s brother Richard, God child Jeffrey Mortensen, nephew Michael Mortensen, niece Cheryl Oluhy, sister in-law Jini Mortensen, nephew and nieces Eric, Amy and Kirsten.

She was preceded in death by her parents Royal and Margaret Balthazor; paternal grandparents William and Ida Balthazor, and maternal grandparents George and Gertrude Fisher.

Per Judy wishes, no funeral service will take place. Entombment is at Ledgeview Memorial Park in Fond du Lac.

The family would like to thank the staff at SSM Health and of the Cancer Center in Fond du Lac for all of their loving care of Judy. Also, a special thank you to all friends and family for your loving support.
