Kenneth M. Krueger
Kenneth M. Krueger, 83, passed away peacefully on November 6, 2023 surrounded by his family after a short illness. He was born to the late Milton and Odilia (Wondra) Krueger on October 25, 1940.
Ken was a graduate of L.P. Goodrich High School and served honorably in the U.S. Navy. He married Kathleen Ann Simon on November 7, 1964 at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Leroy.
Ken was employed at Mercury Marine for 40 years. He was a Knights of Columbus 4th degree Knight for 40 years. He was a high school and college basketball official for many years during the winter months to stay active. Ken also coached his children’s basketball and baseball teams.
After retirement he worked at Rolling Meadows Golf Course as a Marshall and volunteered at SSM for 22 years. He was also a volunteer as a chain gang for the St. Mary’s Springs football team for over 30 years.
Ken was an avid golfer, often golfing three to four times a week during the summer months. He was happiest watching his children and granddaughters’ sporting events and every other sport possible, especially golf. Ken had a reserved, front row seat for all basketball games at St. Mary’s Springs.
Ken’s claim to fame is when he blasted a 703 national honor score with bowling games of 214, 255 and 234 in The Knights of Columbus Bowling League in 1989. He was also very proud of his hole-in-one at Rolling Meadows Golf Course.
Ken is survived by his wife of 59 years, Kathy; three children Kyle (Teresa) Krueger and Kurt Krueger of Fond du Lac, and Kayla (Chris) Merker of Wauwatosa; five granddaughters Meghan (fiancée Nick Scardina) of Milwaukee, Elizabeth of Houston, TX, Molly, Sophia and Grace of Wauwatosa.
He is further survived by brothers Keith (Shirley) Krueger and Karl (Mary) Krueger; brother-in-law Harvey Simon; sister-in-law Rose (John) Hansen and many nieces and nephews.
Ken was preceded in death by his parents and sister and brother-in-law Karen and Jerry Johnson.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, November 13th at 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 200 N. Peters Avenue, Fond du Lac. The family invites relatives and friends for a visitation on Sunday, November 12th at Zacherl Funeral Home, 875 E. Division Street, Fond du Lac from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m.
and again, on Monday, November 13th, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, beginning at 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass. Ken will be laid to rest in Calvary Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, Ken’s family asks that you consider a memorial to St. Mary Springs or the charity of your choice.
